General Information
Our Nursery at Coldingham is situated to the rear of the school in a separate, purpose built unit. However the children frequently use the school hall and take part in assemblies. The Nursery has it's own outdoor area which is used most days, weather permitting.
The Nursery caters for 3 and 4 year olds and the maximum number of children attending each session is 20.
The Nursery is staffed by a Senior Nursery Nurse and a Nursery Nurse for four mornings.  A Nursery Teacher is here all Friday.
The Nursery follows a carefully planned curriculum to ensure that the children are learning through play and to develop the child to ensure they are ready for the transition to school.
The Nursery telephone number is 018907 71822

Staffing
Nursery Teacher                Mrs L Renton
Senior Nursery Nurse         Mrs E Gourlay
Senior Nursery Nurse        Mrs H Dalgleish (Maternity Cover for Mrs Gourlay)
Nursery Nurse                   Miss K Gray

Times
The nursery is from 8.50am to 11.20am. The final 15 minutes are for collection of the children and an informal consultation time with parents.

Clothes

Play clothes should be worn as children often get glue, paint, water on themselves in spite of the aprons provided. Please label all clothes, shoes etc. Children do have accidents and to cater for this please provide a change of clothes to be left on your child's peg.  A gym bag should also be left with shorts, t-shirt and a pair of soft indoor shoes for gym and indoor play. Some of our children wear the school sweatshirt and these may be ordered from the school office.

Snacks
A mid morning snack is provided. A variety of foods are offered, both sweet and savoury and milk or juice. Children are encouraged to try new foods. To cover this a charge of £2 a week is made. This should be brought in on a Monday and is non refundable. Snack money also covers baking ingredients. We should be made aware of any allergies.

Illness
We ask that children are kept at home if they are ill. In the case of tummy upsets they should be kept at home for at least 48 hours after the last instance of sickness or diarrhoea. Please phone nursery before 9am if your child is going to be absent that day.

Trips
We regularly take the children out on visits to stimulate and enhance themes of work.  Permission slips will be given out prior to these unless they are local walks.

Visitors
We enjoy welcoming visitors to nursery throughout the term. These include the dental nurse, school nurse, community policeman and other parents helping out for the morning. We may also invite people to support a particular theme eg. the ambulance service.

Recording Progress
To meet the needs of the children and to record their progress,  assessments will take place during nursery planned activities, through discussions with the children and observations of their play. The information gathered is shared with parents at a meeting during the year. The information will then be passed on to the teacher at the Primary School to which they move.
