Primary 1 This term our topic will be
‘Weather’ followed by ‘Under the Sea’

Languages

Writing: - this
term we will focus on a variety of functional writing, including
instructions and reports relating to our topics. We will also be
looking at poetry, writing weather poems and continuing to develop
skills in personal and imaginative writing appropriate to our topics.
Reading: - We
will be reading books from our reading scheme both fiction and
non-fiction. We will also be reading for information non-fiction books
about our topics.
Listening & Talking –
we will be talking about our
experiments and findings and making video presentations and practising
on listening to others. |

Mathematics
 |
This term
your child will be learning addition to 10 then length. As part of our
topic we shall also be looking at weight and capacity.
In
addition to our group work, as a class we shall also be collecting,
handling and interpreting data about weather and sea life. |

Health and Wellbeing
 |
Our
Physical Education teacher Miss Bridgewater will be working on fitness
this term, followed by creative dance.

Expressive Arts
Incorporating Art & Design,
Music, Drama and Dance.

ART: - Art and
craft work will be related to our topics, experiments and experiences.
Music: - Mrs
Mutch our music teacher will be creating and recording a collection of
music to suit different weather conditions.

This session the children will
be working on movement and dance using ‘Time to Move’ and
‘Let’s Move’ material related to both topics. |

with particular reference to water as rain, snow and ice. After half
term our new topic will be ‘Under the Sea’ focussing on living things
and the processes of life. We will be learning to distinguish features,
name invertebrate groups and recognise stages in life cycles of plants
and animals under the sea. |

Religious and
Moral Education |
As part
of our Religious and Moral Education the children will learn about
Chinese New Year as another world religion and then move on to
Christianity and the Easter story. |

we will be using web sites to support both our topics.
We will design and build
weather measuring instruments and we might even have time to build a
